I have noticed that in the writing community there’s 2 camps:
people who insist that self-published books should be of high quality and that indie authors should spend thousands of dollars on this
authors who improve as they go, so they would do it all themselves but later improve the quality when they have the budget
Can you guys guess which camp I’m in?
Hint: I used to be in one and then jumped to the other one this year…
Today’s video is all about the differences between traditional publishing and self-publishing. I didn’t have my notes with me so I did forget to mention that publishing houses will give you an advance and that you retain all of your work’s rights when you self-publish, but I included everything else.
In any case, this is a personal choice and there is no such thing as one is better than the other because they are both valid choices.
Okay? Okay.

Today we’re gonna look at the self-publishing process through a simplified lens and break it down into 3 simple steps:
preparing your book
publishing your book
promoting your book
But before that I want to discuss what the difference between traditional publishing and self-publishing are, to help you choose one. :)
And then we’ll move on to each of the 3 stages.

Basically, it’s a free download full of all the best and most affordable (even free) tools and resources for indie authors on a budget.
Just because you don’t have $2000 to spend on a book doesn’t mean you should put your dream on hold! I have used most of these tools to self-publish my stories and sell them, and now I’m sharing them with you, as well as a couple of strategies because I love you and I want you to succeed despite the cutthroat odds of self-publishing.
So anyway, here’s a quick sneak peek inside the toolbox…
So someone asked me this question on twitter and I answered it because I feel a lot of writers and authors out there are wondering the same thing.
You don’t want to be like everyone else and just write about writing, but what else is there? Post stories? What, WHAT??? Don’t worry, I tell you in the video and you’ll be able to apply this method right away.

These authors have worked really hard to get their stories out there and now they work really hard to get them in front of you, so you can enjoy your afternoon with a nice book in your hand, or your kindle.

Self-publishing is hard, but it’s rewarding, and it’s my utmost privilege and pleasure to give a little back to the writing and indie community.

Premade book covers are covers that a designer has created based on an idea in their head and which they’re selling to eager customers. They’re not tailored to your story, but sometimes they can be very close to the ideas in your head!
