Are you a plotter or a pantser? Try both!

Are you plotter or a pantser? | Violeta Nedkova

Hey there rebel!

You know when you’re doing your thing and it’s like something’s not working? Maybe you’re blocked, maybe you’re tired, or maybe it’s time for a change.

For someone like me, who always says to bet on your strengths and do it your way, even I have to admit, sometimes your way might actually be in the way of progress, of growth, of what you may become if you weren’t so busy trying to keep everything the same because you’re afraid of change.

#GUILTY

Truth is, this year has been challenging a lot of my assumptions, like…

You should always go with your natural way.

Then I spent months and months writing in my natural way, only to realize that it was no longer working for me. YIKES. Only to end up going from “plotter” - someone who plots before they write - to “pantser” - someone who writes by the seat of their pants, whtout plotting much.

Currently I believe that any writer should strive for their unique combination of both, for the sake of their writing. I explain why in the video below.

Miracles happen when you marry the two!!! :)

Just don’t give me any “I can’t do that!” or “That ain’t for me!” excuses because that’s what they are - excuses. You can do anything as long as you practice, and it doesn’t have to be awful, you can find your way of doing it.

Your way of not your way of doing it. Get it?

In any case, I want you to never discard anything just because it sounds difficult or ill-fitting. Sometimes we gotta try new things, to really know if it’s for us or not. Because how else will you know if you don’t try it???

(I have written about giving unlikely things a chance on Medium.)

So?

Is your way working for you?

Have you tried another way that might balance off your way?

Let me know over on Youtube. :)
