Client Story: How Rosemary overcame her fear of "what if" and started her first podcast.

Hey there rebel!

Today's post is an interview with a client of mine who just started her own rebellious podcast People Behind the Business, and I am so proud of her for jumping into it like she did. Most of us would plan a project for ages until we have figured it out and made it perfect, but Rosemary just knew that she would figure it out as she went, and that's what I love about her. The other thing I love is that she is always genuine, no matter what. You'll see in the interview.

But hey, let's hear the story from Rosemary herself...

A creative way to overcome your limitations and reach your full potential.

A creative way to overcome your limitations and reach your full potential.

Hey there rebel!

You know that friend who always comes to you with the same problem? You want to help them, but you can't, so you hope they'll go see a therapist or listen to their mother... and then they come back with the same problem.

Your friends probably feel like this about you, too. ;)

We all have friends like that, and we can't help them because they have to help themselves first... even though they don't know how.

Do any of us know how to overcome fear? I don't think so.

Anyway, I recently watched the TED talk I believe could change all that friends-in-fear loop going around. And before I tell you how, I want you to watch it.

Every multipassionate makes this mistake when starting a business.

Every multipassionate makes this mistake when starting a business.

Hey there rebel!

If you're reading this, you have many interests and the last thing you want to do is to specialize in one thing/field/skill. Right?

Well, that probably goes for the kind of business you start, too.

If you don't want to box yourself in a single discipline or an industry, if you want to keep your options open and keep exploring everything you find fascinating, WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU BOX YOURSELF INTO A NICHE?!

There, I said it.

I am flying in the face of marketing and expert advice. And there are experts out there who are actually pulling their hair out, reading this.

Dear Multipassionate, you don't need the box to complete your puzzle.

Dear Multipassionate, you don't need the box to complete your puzzle.

Hey there rebel!

Remember when you were little and doing all the puzzles?

Your parents would buy you the really cute ones, and it would be a breeze to complete them, but every once in a while, they'd get you a really tough one, and you'd have no choice but to constantly peek at the box...

Now imagine you're an adult, completing your life puzzle, and you don't have a box to look at when things get tough.

Imagine that none of the pieces seem to fit together.

OUCH.

Welcome to the life of a multipassionate.

Why it's OK to be multipassionate, even though society doesn't want you to be.

Why it's OK to be multipassionate, even though society doesn't want you to be.

Hey multipasionate!

So…

You’re multipassionate, meaning you have many interests.

Congrats! You are now a minority, which means that society will often disregard your needs and suffocate your dreams.

Hold on, there must be some good news… Right???

Actually, there is!

There are SO many multipassionate people out there, and you can join forces with them to feel less alone and discriminated against.

To be clear, we are not so much discriminated against as we are completely ignored and misunderstood. I don’t think the world even knows we exist, which is probably why most multipassionate people don’t know it's OK to be who they are until their late 20s or maybe even later.

Hey there rebel!

You will not believe what I'm doing...

Basically, as soon as the Sun started shining and the winter fog lifted, I felt the familiar manic tug of the Spring and started revamping my site, my shop, and my marketing strategy. Sounds like a lot? Well... it is.

But the one part that has truly changed everything for me is:

Repurposing content…

Hey there rebel!

It's been 16 days since the start of #the100dayproject, and if you still don't know what it is, it's an annual creative challenge that forces you to create every day and share what you've created on Instagram...

Except, I'm a rebel. So I'm writing flash fiction and sharing on twitter.

And since I've been following a lot of the people who share their art on twitter, I decided to share some of my favorites today on the blog. :)

Enjoy...

Why you need to start by blogging. A story.

Why you need to start by blogging. A story.

Hey there rebel!

My clients always ask me how I started...

And I have to say, the only thing that got me started and trampolined into the air, high enough to be able to start a business, was blogging.

That's right, all you need to do is start blogging.

If you don't have a business yet, or you have one, but it's not going anywhere, the only "magic pill" that I know of is adding a blog to the equation.

Why?

Because it helps people. It engages them. It attracts them. It makes them want more. And it's FUN! Unless you'd rather do a podcast or a vlog... hey, whatever form of content you work with best, i say go for it. Because your strengths will trampoline you into the future, just like my writing did for me.

Enough with the vagueness, here's the story...

Hey there rebel!

Today marks the beginning of this year's 100 Day project.

(It was created by Elle Luna and The Great Discontent in 2014.)

Starting today, creatives all over the world are going to create something every day for the next 100 days. Whether that's painting or poetry or logos or angel dolls or stories or whatever, it doesn't matter. You can make anything.

The point of this project is to:

  • develop a daily creative habit
  • get better at your craft through daily practice
  • develop your own unique style through daily practice
  • become more confident in your craft and style
  • share your progress with the world

If this sounds like FUN, all you need is a theme, and you can start!

How to make your life, career, and business YOURS.

How to make your life, career, and business YOURS.

Hey there rebel!

I've been thinking a lot about making things yours...

Because there's a lot of rules and limitations in life, we sometimes forget that we have a choice in changing and controlling where our life or work is going, and as a result, we fall into a false sense of security that ends up becoming our unbecoming. In the end, we all want to be happy, not just to get by.

So how do you make your life yours? Your career? Your business?

I asked myself this question because it comes up a lot with my clients...
